Working at an alpha level of mind

Our brain produces brainwaves, all the time. As we sleep, it produces delta waves, as we talk and walk - beta. The most important for us, though, for the process of learning are alpha brainwaves or alpha level of mind, which is the term used in meditation.

When we're at alpha level of mind, our body is relaxed, but our mind is sharp. It makes it easier for you to concentrate on the task at hand, and that in turn helps you to make the most of the task you're doing, whether it's reading for information or doing exercises.

For this reason, during this course, we will relax before we start our daily lesson and our practice.

To do this you may simply take a few deep breaths or do the box breathing (explanation and the exercise below this lesson) or listen to a short centering exercise I've prepared for you.

Even if you're the most skeptical person in the world, try it. You'll see the instant difference and most probably you'll start any big task with a few deep breaths from now on.
